Exercise is medicine

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see an EP. If you have an enhanced primary care plan (EPC) from your GP allocating exercise physiology consults then you are eligible for a Medicare rebate. We will need a copy of your current EPC plan. If you do not have an EPC plan you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health insurance (dependent on your level of cover). Please bring any relevant medical reports or documents with you to your appointment.

When to seek help?

You have been newly diagnosed or have been living with a health condition for many years and you want to learn how to effectively and efficiently manage your own health.

Unsure of how to exercise correctly or what to do? You will be provided with an exercise program suitable to your individual needs and circumstances.

What to expect in your appointments?

Your first appointment is all about the talking and less about the moving!

This will include a long chat about your medical history (e.g. diagnosed conditions, medication) and social background (e.g. current exercise, exercise history, leisure activities and work environment).

We will then go through a comprehensive physical assessment including body composition measurements, cardiovascular testing and strength testing (and anything else we both deem to be important).

We will then finish off with time spent creating goals that you want to achieve and putting a plan in place to help you succeed.

Every subsequent session will be more about the movement! This will include ensuring you are exercising correctly with adequate intensity and technique. Be prepared to learn and understand the reasoning behind why you are exercising in specific ways. Come with questions.
