How to prevent chronic disease:

Some chronic diseases are preventable. Here are some tips to help you be a healthier version of yourself.

Exercise Guidelines:

  • 2.5-5 hours (150-300minutes/week) of moderate intensity physical activity (PA) – e.g. brisk walk, golf, swimming

  • 1.25-2.5 hours (75-150minutes/week) of vigorous intensity physical activity (PA) – e.g. jogging, aerobics, fast cycling, soccer

  • An equivalent combination of moderate/vigorous intensity physical activity (PA)

  • Muscle strengthening on 2days/week

Lifestyle strategies for the prevention of chronic disease:

  • Exercise well

  • Eat well

  • Cease smoking

  • Limit alcohol intake

  • Manage stress

  • Get quality sleep

  • Manage your weight

GP checkups:

  • 2 check-ups per year for adequate health screening and developing a specialised care plan
