Spring and Sunlight

Tips for Exercising Safely in Spring and Summer:

As temperatures rise, it’s important to be mindful of how heat affects your body during physical activity. Here are some key tips to help you exercise safely and get the most out of the warmer months:

1. Time it right - Exercise earlier in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the midday heat between 10am and 4pm.

2. Get a healthy dose of sunshine - Around 10 minutes of direct sunlight is great for your Vitamin D levels and bone health — but if you’re outside for longer, protect yourself with a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

3. Stay hydrated - Drink water before, during, and after exercise — don’t wait until you’re thirsty.

4. Listen to your body - If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or have a headache, take a break in the shade and slow down your pace. Adjust your activity to suit the weather and how you feel.
